Interview

2005

How did you become a designer/artist?

I think many artists have the same experience. It’s just always been a need to be creative in some way. My extended family is full of creative spirits. I delved into the professional art world in 2002 when I had a studio of my own for the first time!

Where are you from originally?

I am from the Philadelphia area. My childhood was spent on one side or the other of the city in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Most of that time was in Vineland, NJ. It’s midway between Philadelphia and “the shore”. Perfect location!

What are your plans for the future?

I expect to continue to be a painter and resident artist at Artspoken Gallery and Studios in Austin, Texas. In a few short years my husband and I will be “empty nesters” so that opens up lots of possibilities. Whatever the future brings I know I will continue to make art in some capacity.

What American artist inspires you most?

Priscilla Sage. She is my mentor, my aunt, and a very accomplished fiber artist.

What unlocks your creativity?

Being in the “zone” where all else around you fades and concentration is high. My favorite place to be!
