Interview
2003
How did you become a designer/artist?
I think I have always been creative, mimicking my favorite comic book artists such as Todd McFarlane and his amazing Spider-Man drawings for Marvel.
After high school I realized that becoming an entertainer wasn’t too realistic and that I should pursue something I was actually good at, art. I completed a 3-year course at the Butera School of Art where we were trained in the basics of design. Pen, pencil and paint type of freehand art and design. We were only introduced to the computer in the third year.
Where are you from originally?
I am originally from Bermuda, a (very) small island about 600 miles off the coast of South Carolina. The most common question people ask me when they find out I’m from Bermuda is “What are you doing here?”.
What are you doing now?
I am currently one of two principals with At Design, Inc., a Web, print and multimedia design studio in Cambridge, MA. I am currently learning motion design for the broadcast/TV medium.
What are your plans for the future?
I want to explore different areas of design such as animation and motion graphics as well as grow our business to include a client base that will give us the freedom to be as creative as we want.
What unlocks your creativity?
Web surfing, flipping through design magazines and listening to music. When developing a concept I like to just throw things together to work out a color scheme and placement which might spark an idea that leads me to a totally different concept.
